cuba was very anti-lgbtqia back in the day and there are a several noteable examples of cuban queers fleeing their shitty treatment at the hands of the cuban by climbining over embassies walls to seek asylum. castro’s reply was: “let them go, we don’t need them” implying that he dgaf about them.
if you’re so desperate that you scale walls to get into the peruvian embassy to gain asylum as a queer in the 1980’s like a january 6th rioter in the capital; things had to have been REALLY bad for you in cuba.
