A sinking ship drifting into ruin that people are actively trying to leave from as well.
Which fricking is insane… because while a pain in the ass, social media is optional to begin with, and if you organize your friends together, you can all go join a mastadon instance or any number of other options. If I knew an easy way to leave the US, I’d have considered the option a long time ago.
Honestly, as I start to correlate the two, it really seems like a similar issue to me. Besides of course, emigrating also having barriers to entry based on economic status and/or skills, and the extreme difference in importance.
One of the most daunting tasks of either is rebuilding your support network or taking them with you.

Virtually all of which were already set to retire…
The only scramble from the fork has been people recalling applications for retirement because they want to see if they’d really get 8 months pay free before retiring.
Even with this bullshit, I doubt February will break January’s retirement numbers, a shit ton of people got out before trump even came back.
