radlibs see a bunch of “authoritarian” socialist states and wonder why communism is so totalitarian

    when really it’s just

(the bullet holes being Western sanctions, attempted coups, etc)

It gave me a good chuckle.

I must say as an inveterate lurker that these threads have been very fun to read but beyond that I do really think everyone is doing a good job.

We always say when you get into an exchange with someone you aren’t trying to change their mind, you’re trying to convince the 10 lurkers reading the exchange.

Well I think anyone reading will be able to clearly see which side is working with consistent definitions and that is certainly impactful when you read these exchanges.

This is not one of those exchanges I just couldn’t stop laughing at the idea of someone identifying as a “small government communist”

      Solid dunking comrade o7

There are posts and comments that are so ridiculous that I choose to believe they are doing it on purpose. I know that a lot aren’t, but I cope better thinking that they are.

Maybe he’s just going off the stateless, classless, moneyless society thing. Seems hard to have a government without a state.

Yes that’s all great, I don’t even think that person is a total piece of shit or anything, but there’s like 2-500 years of history we need to get through between now and then.

No absolutely not and that’s why I blacked out their name but I just found this exchange hilarious. I do honestly hope this person takes the time to educate themselves further because I think they’re hearts in the right place and they’re probably just a kid. Truly just think the term “small government communist” is hilarious and I hope they can laugh about it someday too.

They jist don’t know what they’re talking about

Completely fair, we all learn everyday

        are very confident about it

Wish our society would instill more humility. Every lesson is like a debate these days, people have to be convinced of everything, no one is capable of just going “you know what, I don’t actually know anything about this subject, it seems like you’re knowledgeable, can I ask you about…”

That’s what dunking is for as well. I used to be like that, until I got made so much fun of I went “ILL SHOW THEM, I’M GONNA READ ALL THE STUFF THEY TOLD ME TO READ AND THEN IM GONNA READ THE CRITIQUE OF THE STUFF AND THEN I’LL OWN THOSE FUCKING COMMIES” and then I read the text and started to realise I’d been a total idiot

Perfect response. I was reading this thread as it was going down and that comment is legendary, “small government communist” is an evergreen bit. These people are trolls, whether they know it or not

Yah know it didn’t even occur to me that the closest political tendency to what this person is describing is anarcho communism. If that was the term they used there would be no dunk but “small government” is such telling verbiage lol

There might be a small chance that they mean well but are just too America brained but otherwise if you get rid of the government before dismantling capitalism, it will just fill up the power vacuum and it’s gonna be Mad Max time.
