If your brain snaps and suddenly you perceive something as a rational thing to do you don’t really have control at that point. Basically just points to punishment or treatment, not a get out of jail card.
Being a racist schizophrenic who murders people still makes you a racist murderer. He certainly targeted a perceived race he hated.
