We cannot overlook the likelihood that these Palestinian solidarity encampments were labelled security threats because of the relentless pressures on university administrators exerted by Zionist politicians and pro-Zionist government officials to characterize any criticism of Israel as threatening to the “safety” of Jewish students and faculty. Such pressures have been well-documented in the cases of the Universities of Alberta and Calgary, and are exhibited in many of the submissions to the House of Commons Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights’ investigation of “antisemitism” on Canadian campuses (May 2024). Notably, the committee’s December 2024 report recommended, among other measures, that universities adopt the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition of antisemitism which encompasses anti-Zionism or criticism of the state of Israel.

Peaceful protests? I think the case could easily be made that many participants invited violence whether directly or indirectly. And while it may have a small number of participants the nazi rule is applicable to them same as it is to the truckers convoy and so on.

Protesting a genocide is often a nasty business. It is still the noble and correct thing to do. Free Palestine.

I honestly don’t have position in this fight and frankly don’t care if both sides annihilate each other. Once hospitals were protested and marches with participants wearing masks started intimidating and threatening people I tuned out and stopped giving a shit. Israel is an asshole but so is Hamas. I pass no judgement on either for what they do.

Oh look, someone holding on to 2000 year old grievances, anyways….

If you don’t have a position on genocide then you’re a bad person, maybe not as bad as people who actively support genocide but that’s a fantastically low bar to clear and you should still be ashamed
