    Hard disagree, within my experience as a new Englander (I don’t know what it’s like elsewhere, and it’s probably the case that south of the mason dixon line, the confederacy is less laughable). A reenactment needs both sides, and those playing the confederacy are taking one for the team.

    A friend of mine used to wear John brown shirts under his confederate costume and as soon as the action was over, he’d strip down to that and explain his honest thoughts on the civil war (fought for slavery, because our founding fathers and every subsequent politician were too cowardly to make a stand against their own comfort).
