    In front or ahead means the same? That’s exactly what the saying means, the car being in front of the horses, because it should go behind the horses.

      Yeah, ahead and in front are synonymous. I think your issue is that “car” and “cart” are not the same. “Car” (without the T) is an automobile. It will not have horses pulling it.

      Might have just been a typo by you missing the “T”. I just found it humorous.
