What is CM Punk’s appeal? I don’t get it. Is it just nostalgia? Is his mic work really that compelling? His matches are ‘meh’. Perhaps TK is just leaning into Punk being a heel IRL, thinking we’ll tune in to see his ass kicked for backstage stuff. He may be right, but this is giving off bad vibes.
At his best, Punk is extremely compelling on the mic, and puts together great matches in the ring. Recently, he seems to be more concerned with pushing his petty grievances than actually giving people what they came for, though.
He’s looked sloppy in the ring since his return imo. Especially the GTS. I think at a certain point there will be diminishing returns on having him around. His drawing power will be outweighed by all this drama. He peaked with the MJF feud but I have to wonder how much of that was MJF.
He definitely peaked with the MJF feud. The Hangman feud ended up being kind of awkward, and I honestly thought it was leading up to a Punk heel turn because of how smarmy he came off through it. And ever since then, he’s just disappeared further and further up his own ass.
Yeah, i don’t get if he’s supposed to be heel or face. He just comes off as a dick.
Absolute clown.
