Seriously though, the USA is virtually always bad.

    America bad.
Libs: well what about chyna or rusya?? Did ya think of that? Did ya think of the fact that my American media says they’re bad?? Maybe it’s more nuanced (and by nuanced I mean America Not Bad, China Still Bad tho)

      Meanwhile in reality -

China: Builds more clinics for transgender children. Steadily expanding access to state-administed lifesaving healthcare.

America: Biden bans transgender children from playing sports.

they banned effeminate men from television which is a fuck, but overall it seems like they’re moving in the right direction on queer issues while i half expect to be in a camp in 10 years.

This isn’t anything to do with lgbt people though. It’s to do with homogenous standards that are problematic across all asian television. The thing they’re going after is this problem of mass producing exactly ONE type of person across media. That one thing that was internally posted by one person at a tv company that got heavily seized on and propagandised by western media because of its shitty wording was (unsurprisingly) very misleading about the actual problem of young male beauty standards in media that exists and what China is trying to do about it.

Right but that’s on the guy that announced it internally at that network for being a dick about it. The actual goal being targeted - to reduce the beauty standard and spread more interesting diversity across media, is a good thing.

Calling it “girly men” is certainly a bad thing. But deliberately misunderstanding what the problem is as they see it and why they’re targeting it is also bad.
