DRS numbers are based on Cede & Co from now on.
We do NOT know the true DRS count as GameStop will never directly implicate Cede in a crime, nor would Cede ever send a bigger number than they should.
People saying the movement has “fissiled out” are intentionally misleading you. Lemmy is filled to the brim with inorganic anti-GME rhetoric. Esp Lemmy.world content (anti-GME, anti-DRS, anti-NFT, anti tokenized securities)
We’re at upwards of 85-90M DRS per the bot which has been incredibly accurate so far.
I was correct that this quarter would “barely move” upward. We’re at the CUSP of the math not mathing out on Cede’s end.
@Chives@lemmy.whynotdrs.org, have you considered what this user is proposing? It would make sense that if you obfuscated a forwarding link, we could bring more people over from Reddit.
They at least can’t auto-ban the links right-out.
Reddit accounts w/ this much karma cost MAYBE $20, I’m willing to throw water on the SS fire if it makes people wake up about DRS.
We can’t switch the domain after Federating without breaking all posts and comments, but it’s true that there might be other ways to help spread the availability of the platform.
I want to mention here that Reddit admins have not shown that there is any issue with discussing Lemmy as a platform. https://www.reddit.com/r/Lemmy is a fairly active sub for folks just starting to learn about this alternative.
However - individual subreddits can make their own policy decisions. On r/Superstonk, the word “lemmy” triggers automod and can not be commented. That was added shortly after this instance was publicly launched.
Emphasis on this – it’s the Superstonk mods themselves who’ve taken this step. Mentioning lemmy risks a permaban from the sub now. They don’t want the Apes to escape their cage.
This is what I was originally referring to, not changing the subdomain.
Ah, gotcha! A redirect could be set up by anyone, it wouldn’t have to be us. Using something like TinyURL would probably work for someone interested in trying this.
That said - I would encourage people to make their own decisions about that kind of outreach. As I mentioned above, some subreddits may view that kind of sharing as a violation of their policy which can result in bans, and that is outside of our control.
I am so glad Lemmy is growing steadily and people are coming to a place where admin and mod actions have built in transparency and accountability.
I’m sure you’re afraid to directly brigade (or maybe even just directly SAY to brigade), but with your addition to the DRSGME site, it seems you may not really have a choice in which side you pick here. Sure it doesn’t have to be your team, but it would certainly make more sense to facilitate something like this.
I think it’s good for people to engage with the community however they would like. You’re probably not the only one who thinks that kind of advocacy campaign would be helpful! We’re working on adding new resources to the DRSGME.org and WhyDRS.org sites that can help educate about Lemmy as well, and bring more people interested in open conversation towards this platform.
I feel like if a person is following this saga but has not caught on to the fact that Superstonk is heavily biased (compromised) then they aren’t going to have the mental aptitude or fortitude to DRS their shares (assuming they ‘have’ any in the first place.) I may be cynical.
