90% of her twitter is complaining about tankies and the uyghurs and the authoritarianism

someone in the comments says “im cuban and castro was not a real communist”

retweeted something about how can china eradicate poverty when people in hong kong live in tiny homes

I dunno, if the person with the most similar political development on Youtube was freaking Shoe0nhead, that would probably make me want to rethink my beliefs.

Like, there’s non-tankie leftists online like hbomb, philosophytube, big joel, the chapos, contrapoints, hasanabi, but they talk about actual fucking left-wing ideals, the injustices in the present day and what could be done to fix them. They don’t turn their entire online presence into “im one of the good lefties, not like these evil tankies, im one of the good and reasonable ones”

She was in some communist organization that said in Cuba, no one is allowed to smoke or that no one chooses to smoke - which is already an absurd claim considering it’s reputation with cigars and Castro and Che’s image - and one day when she was in a Cuban hospital (after she and some friends got piss drunk), she saw a nurse smoking on her break, and that broke her fragile brain.

If you’re not able to see the absurdity here, imagine this scenario: you’re a Chinese communist. You hear from everyone about how every American is fat. One day you travel to America and the first thing you see is some fit guy jogging down the street. You declare an eternal war against communism and China afterwards

Westerns Liberals believe whatever shit their media tells them. Then when they visit the Global South they are surprised that people live a normal life and do normal things.

That was my experience when I went to Chile. The only times I still wish I smoked is when I remember how it was an instant icebreaker and convo starter even with my broken ass Spanish. The lesson I learned is that people just wanna chill.
