The federation, the utopia for humanity, uses a communist economic system…

      Edit: to be less accusatory

The communism of star trek is a far cry from the “communism” (that is, atrocity denial and state capitalist propaganda) espoused by terminally online social media users.

If you’re incapable of understanding the backdrop of basically all of the franchise, then yeah I guess not.

My point is, you’re not making every second post about how communism is a better system. It’s a “backdrop”.

Yes they don’t constantly tell you to read Marx, that’s right.

But you would have to actively avoid thinking about the setting, the futuristic and utopian circumstances people live in, that are ultimately all derived from the egalitarian allocation of resources that is at the core of future mankind and the federation.

There is no poverty, no nation states beyond administrative and cultural regions, no material need. Labor, or any work really, is essentially no longer required and people are free to pursue any interest they might have regardless of economic viability.

People still can choose to pursue a profession, or even do commerce if they are so inclined, but they usually do it out of a personal want and not material needs that require a monetization of an individuals lifetime, and have access to any resource they might require to succeed in their role.

Even the sheer capability of starfleet to churn out starships like they are bicycles, using all knowledge and resources they could ever need for ever improving designs and technological marvels, is ultimately a result of a post-scarcity society, free of current day objectives like power and wealth.
