The only thing you need to know about him is that he has nice hair and that he is incredibly stupid. Yes he will occasionally have a good take but you shouldn’t ever expect that from him.

He does still make funny videos about video games and cryptobros though.

The only thing I know about him is that while dumb, he’s smarter than xQc and beat him at chess with like the least moves legally possible.
I also know literally nothing about xQc other than he’s dumber than critikal

He’s pretty good as long as he isn’t talking about politics. Probably one of my favourite reaction streamers to silly YouTube content.

He strikes me as one of those purely parasocial relationship streamers. People like him because he feels like a buddy aimlessly talking in your living room about video games or whatever.

I’ve watched quite a bit of his stuff and all I know about jim is that he’s wholesome, hot, and kind of into alien conspiracy theories because of his dad. so no I don’t think he’s particularly parasocial.

I watched one of his videos that Youtube thrust upon me the day after doing a running event. When your brain is kinda gone, he mellow mood and surprisingly rich voice is like a drug. As others have put it, he’s honestly kind of inoffensive and a pretty chill guy; aggressively mid, honestly.

I watched some critikal back into he day when he all I knew about him was that he was a former quake competitor. He would talk his way through deep depression in a way that was pretty familiar, just a voice over a video of some game (usually ironically speedrunning those types of 100-in-one pack games on a disc sold at Wal-Mart).

Everyone assumed he was a schlubby gamer dude (like myself at the time) and then he did a face reveal and people were impressed that he was a good looking guy who was in shape, and his career kinda exploded because now he was an inspirational gamer dude and not one of the gamergate blobs.

That’s fine for him, he’s pretty inoffensive and doesn’t really produce “takes.” But on a personal level I cannot stand the almost smotheringly positive parasociality of his community, they write these long essays about how his stream makes their life bearable and it makes me uncomfortable.

He just seems like a pretty harmless YouTuber to me

Is he actually problematic or is this like a hating 10 year olds thing

He has pretty bad sociopolitical takes.

AVGN’s videos are still somewhat amusing to me because he actually put effort into them and has something to actually say about the games despite being childish and vulgar.

I used to like cr1tikal’s video when I was a kid because he played shitty, broken games and said cum ass shit. But now all he does is watch videos and react to them or get involved with internet drama and it’s just lame as hell

I actually really love his sketches from an absurdist standpoint. As well, his reviews of older films (particularly classic horror) are very well thought out and give a window into a more analytical side.

I’m kind of impressed that he’s managed to keep the formula of early Youtube pre-2010. It’s refreshing to see a vlogger that doesn’t have obnoxious music playing in the background and 20 jump cuts with annoying sounds.

He used to make pretty good videos parodying infomercials and playing bad horror games but the algorithm turned against medium-short form content and the youtube rules turned against gaming so he’s defacto become a news and drama vlogger, two things he’s generally pretty bad at since most of his takes take about 2 minutes to explain but he has to repeat himself over and over again to get to the 10-15 minute mark and because he’s so afraid to get demonetized or copyright stricken he never shows clips from whatever event he’s talking about so it’s just his face staring into a desktop camera for almost the entire video.

Otherwise he’s fairly inoffensive if bland and he’s a great way to gauge what the “normies” are talking about since with the death of the monoculture it’s pretty damn hard to figure out what non-political conversations are happening in wider society outside of one’s discord server

I knew someone who said they couldn’t read articles but loved to watch this guy’s videos of him… reading articles. This same person knew a ton of very complicated rule interactions in 5e and was a very competitive raider in wow. Idk something something gamer brain.
