Ukraine can spare forces to fight in another country? That sounds wrong and inefficient.

      • Deny your enemy rest, easy access to resources, and capital.
      • Limit their ability to train abroad and come to Ukraine.
      • Damage their reputation.

A small group of purpose trained soldiers can be hell for the Russian military abroad and will require attention one way or another.

Wagner Group isn’t “the Russian Military”, it’s a private paramilitary organisation. Mercenaries by any other name.

And how is that more efficient than fighting them in Ukraine? Where, besides creating “hell” for Wagner and/or Russian fighters, they would also directly protect Ukrainians’ lives.

Also, strong reddit vibes here with all the downvotes, just because people don’t like an opinion, or someone dare criticise anything Ukraine does. Or in this case, is alleged to be doing: none of the videos provides any kind of evidence. Just random people doing random war stuff.

I doubt many people bothered to read past "Wager Group isn’t ‘the Russian Miltary’ " and immediately downvoted. Tbf I did read the rest of your comment and, having done so, I wish I could downvote you 3 times. Precisely 3, no more, no less. Out of interest, are you a Russian troll?

All PMCs where rolled up into the MOD. The fact wagner did not want to sign is what led to the march on Moscow.

After that Wagner was still rolled up into the MOD partially, the rest just ceased to exist.

So all “Wagner” presence left in the world is now Russian MOD.

And if the videos prove it or not is separate from the point I made.

Doing the most damage to your enemy and keeping them off balance is the “game”. And if the MOD has to retask troops to protect their foreign holdings, Ukraine wins double. Russians can stop all of that by withdrawing to pre 2014 borders.

Thanks for at least addressing some of my points.

So all “Wagner” presence left in the world is now Russian MOD.

Then why even call it Wagner anymore? But that’s a minor point.

And if the videos prove it or not is separate from the point I made.

Fine. Then provide some other evidence, please.

Doing the most damage to your enemy and keeping them off balance is the “game”. And if the MOD has to retask troops to protect their foreign holdings, Ukraine wins double.

In this case, by MOD you mean the Russian MOD? That makes some sense.

Russians can stop all of that by withdrawing to pre 2014 borders.

Undoubtedly, and in my opinion that’s the only option worth discussing.

YW, Civil discourse is what I’m here for :).

The Russian MOD kept the various pmc’s for one of several reasons, the most obvious would be:

              • Absorbing the soldiers completely takes time (keeping the command structure in place partially)
              • This way they can keep separate pay structures (via the companies that founded them, other pay scales etc)
              • Marketing (foreign countries would not want Russian military on their soil, but via a PMC there is some form of “deniability”)
              • The powers that be, have not come to an agreement on how to split up the carcass of the Wagner holdings across the world (apparently they hold gold mines and more).

But in the end all the various pmc’s fall under the MOD umbrella now.
