    I think there’s also a scene where the anime calls out the name of the Von Braun, and says ‘yeah this is the name of the nazi who killed a bunch of people with his rockets.’ I could be misremembering though and it might onlllly be in the manga?

    I don’t remember it, so it’s probably only in the manga. sadness

    Re: Edel, I agree that she’s actually treated decently but the fact that the author is pretty weird about other women raises my sus flags about the forced sex work backstory.

    Re: toxic masculinity, imo Hachi kind of confronts it but the end result is basically just “be toxically masculine in a different way, like your dad, who is a monster”.
