It’s miraculously possible to have a more complicated opinion on the conflict than one side good other side bad.

The Onion Article does exactly what you claim is wrong: Sarcastically siding with Israel in a mock article while mockingly claiming they are having Ted Kacinsky as an Editor on board that wouldn’t let them do otherwise.

As some people do not seem to understand sarcasm at all: they mean the opposite of what is stated.

In moments of turmoil such as this, some believe it is the responsibility of a newspaper of record like The Onion to delve fully into the nuances of a complex and multifaceted conflict that stretches back not just decades but centuries. These people are wrong.

There’s the thesis. Pretty plainly stating, to translate the satire, that news should be taking a nuanced approach which recognizes no easy answers.

It’s not saying Israel is wrong alone, it’s saying that’s just the easy hand wave call for violence that is mainstream.

Notably it’s also not saying Palestinians and more pressingly hamas are right.

So no, the onion article is not doing what I think is wrong.
