The most recent superstar that comes to mind is Gurly. He was an absolute beast for the Rams, helped make them a contender, and after some reports of arthritis he became a complete non-factor. I know he went to the Falcons for a little but it was one of the quickest declines I’ve ever seen.
As a Georgia fan, it almost felt like we were cheating with him running against college teams. That knee injury was gruesome. Im surprised he did that well in the NFL after that.
Not so fun fact: Every single RB who lead the league in rushing TD from the 2018 season and earlier is no longer active. That’s only 5 years, and none of them are still active. In 2017 and 2018 it was Gurley, in 2016 Blount 15 it was Devonte Freeman.
