I’m kind of confuaes why I’ve heard bad things. I really enjoyed it. It may be because my expectations were low, though.
Personally I found it largely forgettable, and the plot and “gimmicks” felt like a rick & morty episode.
Glad you enjoyed it though
I found it fun too. I think the main problem which most people took though was that it really didn’t feel like an Antman movie. And Kang felt weak.
Fun movie overall. I think my biggest complaint is that I remember only 2 things about it:
- Kang is intimidating, scary, and particularly unpredictable because you never know which variant you’re dealing with
- Kang was on a mindless killing spree that he stopped when Scott, Cassie, and Hope showed up because… ? I can’t tell you the primary plot of the movie, but I can recall the most egregious example of plot armor I have ever seen in a movie before. In a parallel quantum realm (if that’s even possible) Cassie, Scott, and Hope are all fuckin dead by a mile.
It did occur to me that Kang (this particular variant, anyway) had mentioned that he’d killed the Avengers many times. That would mean he’d beaten Thor, Captain Marvel, and probably Iron Man on multiple occasions. So it was a stretch for me to believe that the 3 of them could take him on. At least they didn’t actually beat him - he was really beaten by the ants (AM and Wasp fought him again at the end, but the ants did heavy lifting and softened him up enough for them to take him).
Yeah. I had a few complaints, but overall thought it was a fun movie.
For me, it was just too goofy in a lot of it. It was obvious the Rick and Morty guys had a hand in it. It was just too much at times. And also Kang vs Ant-Man should be a slaughter. Didn’t really make sense how easily he was defeated. And a lot of the ‘rules’ of shrinking/growing were thrown out the window, but that had been happening prior to this movie. Mostly, I found it very forgettable and not a good intro to the supposed “big bad” of this next phase of the MCU.
Haven’t seen it, I wonder if there’s lots of references to it in Loki season 2 which I’m watching
Except for the presence of Kang variants and the “spaghettification” effect, there really hasn’t been so far.
Yeah, that’s pretty much it. You wouldn’t need to see one to get the other.
