So I have an old series 2, I haven’t used it in ages, I guess it was paired to my old phone but since I stopped using it I wiped the phone multiple times, and now recently I switched to a new phone as well, so I can’t unpair it from the original phone.
From the settings I did see the device in my iCloud but I’ve since removed it, hoping that it would allow me to pair it, but to no avail. I wanted to gift this watch to my mom since I recently bought a series 9, but the Apple Watch either refuses altogether or fails to update (I think it’s still on watchOS 6, while my mom phone is iOS 17).
If it only could connect to the internet it would probably notice that it was removed from my iCloud and so it is free to pair with whoever. Unfortunately the watch was reset from the watch settings a couple of days ago so I can’t connect it to my wifi either, since it needs to complete the setup.
Is there any way to fix it by myself? Do I have to go to Apple? Did it just become an expensive paperweight? Thanks
Series 2 will not connect to IOS 17 phones.
