Framework 13 Ryzen 5

Installing Windows 11 from USB - brand new install, first time I’ve turned the computer on.

Nothing happened at all. It took me a very long time to realize that the screen is on, but so dim that I literally can’t read anything at all on the screen. Doesn’t respond to the F8 brightness key (with Fn or without).

I’m going to try to proceed and hope the default settings work, but has anyone else had this issue?

UPDATE: I tried going into a dark closet, and the image disappeared entirely, so I realized the screen was auto-adjusting. So instead I’m standing in bright sunlight, and that’s enough to make the text legible. Hopefully after Windows installation I’ll be able to fix this.

Very disturbing, though. I genuinely thought there was nothing on screen at first.

Check the connection on the motherboard and also check the connection that connects directly to the LCD

This isn’t a brightness autoadjust thing. Looks like your backlight is out.

An LCD screen that is actively displaying an image but with no backlight will still show a faint image from reflected light, so you can see an image in a lit room but not in a dark room.

It definitely sounds like a backlight issue, but check the display connector again. I had some weird video problems with my AMD main board when I upgraded, some of which sound a bit like yours. It ended up being a speck of dust or something in the connector. Once I blew that out with some canned air and reseated the connector, everything worked properly. Worth a shot at least.
