A question for ex fitbiters, what do you miss about Fitbit and do you regret moving on to Apple watch and leaving Fitbit behind?

Fitbit is so good at auto-detecting activity. It knew when I was riding a bike. It knew when I was dancing around. With Apple Watch, the only thing it reliably detects is walks.

How so? The only thing that I don’t like is you have to physically put it in sleep mode to track. If it would automatically track without having to be in a focus it would be great.

You can have other apps that’ll do it for you( which is what I do but is not the same as built in)

Exactly, if other apps can make the watch auto detect sleep, then apple should be able to make it auto detect as standard

It’s not even about it not auto detecting. The sleep tracking is completely inaccurate. My watch has bedtime mode automatically set at a certain time. Well I just so happen to be working 3rd shift. I’m busting my butt during this shift and it was quite literally one of the busiest shifts I had… it gave me a ton of sleep data but ALSO had all my stand rings closed (which it should cause I was on my feet the whole time) but how can I be sleep AND closing my rings? I literally was never sleep.

Point is, as long as your watch is in sleep focus… it tracks anything you’re doing as sleep. Once I learned that I genuinely stopped wearing it to bed in its entirety.

I use Sleepwatch app. Just going by score of how I feel when I wake up, I would say Fitbit is closer. There are also times I wake up for 5-10 minutes during the night. Fitbit picks it up, Apple Watch does not.

First thing in my mind is the battery. My son has a five year old fitbit charge 3 and he says the battery lasts him a full week on one charge. My S6 needs to be charged virtually daily.

The heart rate monitoring in fitbit is a lot better because it’s continuous and you get this nice easy to read graph in the app. Apple watches don’t read your heart rate every second and the apple health app gives you a bunch of vertical lines which don’t give precise data.

I do miss my Fitbit still, I’ve had an AW over a year or so. Would love everything everyone has mentioned; better sleep tracking, better auto detection of workouts, a more streamlined app with everything in one place, and would prefer a ring for steps or distance. Probably because a Fitbit was my first tracker, I’m more motivated by steps than calories, it’s taken time to train my brain that calories are a better metric.

I wouldn’t go back though, due to device longevity, all the other non fitness features, and the main reason I got one is to listen to music and podcasts while I walk.

I loved Fitbit for many years, like 12-15. But I hate the app now and Google has ruined it. So just switched to AW9 a few weeks ago. I am getting used to the rings. I think I’d like easier step tracking than I have on AW9 but I need to figure out the right face and complication. Someone also mentioned the separate Steps app so I’m trying it. But maybe the rings are enough? I need to learn more about them. Fitbit did have easy to read sleep tracking but hubby has read that all sleep tracking on any device is really crap…… but I still liked seeing my Fitbit sleep score. But I am not going back to Fitbit.

My Fitbit was basically a separate device.

My Apple Watch is an extension of my phone.

They each have their benefits. Fitbit is really good at presenting its data in a digestible way. AW is really good at pretty much everything else. Neither are bad though.

I have a preference, but mostly because I’m already quite invested in the Apple ecosystem, so any device that acts as an extension of this will be a priority for me.

I like my aw ultra 2 device much better than any Fitbit I’ve had but I really miss the Fitbit app. I don’t like how with apple it’s split into different apps and less clear to understand

I may have issues but I started with a Fitbit charge 4 and now have a 5. I used to wear my AW every now and then but now I basically use it daily. I wear both. The Fitbit is on 24x7 (except when it needs a charge). I haven’t tried sleep tracking with the AW due to the size (and need to charge - I still have an S4).

Nothing lol. I was using the Fitbit trackers more and had a bunch. I guess I would like it to be easier to see my steps on the AW, but I can still find them in the activity app.

AW is much more reliable in every way. I think the sleep tracking is pretty much the same. I use the Athlytic to see sleep scores and recovery scores, and the subscription for that is cheaper than the fitbit subscription. I could never go back and I don’t miss it at all!

I would make it through a year with my Fitbit device before it broke 💔 It introduced me to sleep tracking

I take a lot of naps and I miss the way my Fitbit Sense was able to track my nap/sleep WITHOUT me having to change it to the sleep focus. I miss that the most.

Otherwise I’m much happier with my Apple Watch. I thought I’d miss the step count but the move makes more sense. But I will say that I miss the Readiness score and Stress score from Fitbit

Switched from Charge 2 to Apple Watch SE literally yesterday. The Apple Watch is great but I already miss the Fitbit’s battery life. I could go 3 days without a charge even on my 5 year old charge 2 but looks like I will be charging my new watch every day. Also miss seeing real time step count and heart rate at a glance.

Things I do like about AW: now playing, notifications, Apple pay, pretty seamless integration with my phone. Hopefully it will last me a good few years.
