Today my friends and I were talking about the tight end position and what the history has been like with our favorite teams. When I think back on the Colts, I wasn’t sure how I was supposed to feel. Of course, I feel the Colts have been fortunate with players like Dallas Clark, Jack Doyle, and Marcus Pollard. But we’ve also had players like Coby Fleener, Dwayne Allen, and Eric Ebron where they are notable in the league, but not great.
More or less I’m just asking if the Colts have historically been known to have great TEs, and what your opinions are because our current ones stink. Am I under appreciating our history or are we just lacklustering?
Most teams haven’t had many “great” tight ends. Only like Kansas City and a few others can claim that. We’ve(Indy Colts) had some notable tight ends but their peak has not lasted long, even Clark was like 3 good years and one pro bowl in his career. We’ve had consistent solid play and nothing to complain about, but we’ve never seen the likes of Gronk, Kelce, Gates, etc.
