I am in my mid 30s and other than the 4S, I have always used Android. I was really into having more customization, more choice and more cost efficient phones. Since I’ve gotten older I don’t at all care about customizing every tiny detail of my phone. I just want something stable and reliable.

About 4 months ago I was offered a free iPhone with my service company. And I have some thoughts.

  • It runs amazingly. I love how snappy it is, and it never seems to lag even with heavy use and many apps open.

-I really love the iOS integration. It’s clean looking and really accessible.

  • I’ve always loved the look of iPhones. I think they’re easily the most gorgeous looking phones on the market and sort have been since their inception.

I do have some negatives though.

  • The keyboard seems like a step down from the Androids I’ve used. The latest big iOS update sort of fixed some of the issues. But much typing is much more fluid on a consistent basis than on iOS.

  • The Notification Center is abysmal. I can’t count how many time I’ve completely missed a notification because of how it’s set up. It’s almost so counterproductive that it’s laughable.

The keyboard I’ve sort of adjusted to. But the notifications could really use a massive rework. It shouldn’t be that easy to miss notifications. And sure, some of it is because I’m used to Android but I also truly believe Android just handles notifications far better.

  • the battery could be better. But I can go a day without a charge so it’s not a massive deal. I feel like the battery life is a fair trade off and it isn’t the absolute worst.

All in all I am extremely happy with my iPhone. I feel like I’ll be sticking to iOS for the foreseeable future. But the notification issue really would be the only reason I’d switch back. Just wanted to share my experience.

I hope you all have a wonderful and positive week!

I don’t get it. What is it that you miss regarding notifications? I never miss a notification. It shows up on the Lock Screen. Also, it shows all notifications grouped by app and sender and not just the first few words of the last two-three messages. I can basically read all incoming notifications from the Lock Screen and even reply to them. There’s also the notification badge on the app icons. How do you guys miss notifications?
