If we make the playoffs somehow I think he has to be on the short list, but as of now he’s only an honorable mention imo

Depends on how you decide Coach of the Year. If winning a Super Bowl is required, then no.
But who thought the Colts would win 5 games?
Who thought they would be 5-5 with Gardner Minshew as QB and JT not playing for the first 4 games of that 5-5.
Nobody. That success is squarely on Steichen’s shoulders. So if they win 3-4 more games, Steichen should absolutely be Coach of the Year.
