For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough. I think that I am not in the least inferior to these super-apostles.

    • 2 Cor 11:4-5 (one of the earliest primary sources in Christianity, acknowledging different versions preceding it)

So the real question is - which Jesus does one trust?

Most believers answer that the version in the Bible is correct because the Holy Spirit was editor in chief, which seems like a really dangerous belief given their own Biblical claim that everything will be forgiven except blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. So if they are wrong about the Holy Spirit compiling a text which contains things like 1 Timothy which the vast majority of scholars think is a forgery - oops.

The tautology of infallibility would be really neat to point out to people like this, but because they are stuck in their tautology loop they just can’t hear anything but the echo of their self-confirmation.
