You know the more I learn about this Marcellus Wiley guy the more I don’t care for him
29 years ago? He’s innocent and the girl makes me sick.
If the reporting is true, it was reported at the time and he was given a minimum punishment by the school. There were also other incidents reported to the school as well. This might be a rare case where they actually might have evidence and the school might have some incident reports from back then.
Why would someone not go to the police right when this happened?
If it happened before I was born and there’s zero evidence I call that bullshit that doesn’t warrant any conversation.
Unless there’s an apology, then that man a rapist.
Why didn’t they say something 30 years ago?
As I’ve grown older, I’ve learned that a whole lot of guys straight up lie or are in absolute denial about sexual assault and rape.
Not a defense of Wiley - nor a rejection of the potential victim’s claim. I don’t know more than anyone else here. But the journalism here doesn’t really seem objective. It seems like it really started with the intention to publicly convict Wiley.
It jumps right from “accusation was made” to “wasn’t expelled.” Author doesn’t go from “accusation” to “lack or investigation.” but immediately jumps to “wasn’t expelled.”
It passes right by a mention of the potential victim being on mandatory leave. Why was she on leave? That’s a pretty important piece of information that seems irresponsible to leave out.
Then it claims that the potential victim was forced to share multiple classes. That’s not how courses work at that level. Nobody is ever forced to share classes with another student. He would have returned to school as a junior with her being a sophomore. Most of the crossover in course work would have been Gen Ed. with maybe a few core classes that can be moved around here and there (as evidenced by him taking some as a junior while she was taking it as a sophmore). This line of phrasing seems to be intentional framing of the details.
I was thinking the same thing. This should be labeled an opinion piece, because it’s clearly not even close to being objective.
Wiley has been relentlessly attacking Steven A Smith. Could this perhaps be an inside job from SAS and his “people” as retaliation?
Have you or your loved ones been affected by trashy articles at New York Post?
I was at Columbia when Wiley was there and his history of sexual assault was known by many women on campus.
I sure Reddit learned from the countless other guys who had their lives ruined from false accusations to hold off on ruining this guys reputation
This is bad… the accusations are YIKES
According to the article
- There’s more than one person who was raped
- Both reported it to school admins
- First victim described went to a series of administrators and was even told by one that she “misinterpreted” the events despite the events described being very violent, because she’s not American
- She attempted suicide and had to be placed in locked ward for two weeks
The 3rd fact was so repulsive…implying because she is not-American she would not know she was being raped? Like come on man, I think any woman anywhere understands what that is.
People in the industry dont like wiley. Ima leave it at that
