Thought this was an interesting discussion for a few reasons.

First of all, he absolutely deserves it.

The Vikings who had one of the worst defenses in the league in almost all statistical categories, with largely the same players are 14th in PFF grade, 8th in DVOA, 11th in ESPN’s defensive efficiency metric, 13th in YPG and 15th in PPG.

It’s a ridiculous turnaround that Flo is undeniably responsible for.

But then you add the layer of the lawsuit, will owners want to touch that?

Plus, Flo was in what he viewed as a toxic organization last go around. Will he be picky? He has to know this will be his last shot at a HC gig. He also has small kids and has stated a bunch of times how much they enjoy living in MN.

Last factor here is the Vikings ownership who have time and time again opened their pockets to get the team whatever it needs. I have no doubt they would be willing to give him the Assistant HC title and make him the highest paid assistant coach in the league.

So what do you think happens here, does Flo take a job this offseason?

No. Can’t imagine his treatment of Tua was the only player he was bumping heads with. Plus when the team starts cookin as soon as you left it’s a bad look.

He won’t get a hc job until after the lawsuit stuff is done. I hope the Vikings pay him whatever he wants for however long he wants. He is awesome as our dc

Not every great coordinator makes for a head coach. If I were him I wouldn’t want all the politics and shit that comes with being a HC right now. Find a great situation and just cement yourself as one of the great defensive minds. Rest will fall into place in due time.

I doubt it, put the lawsuit aside and just look at how Tua played under him, as opposed to how he is under and offensive coach. I think it only works for an older team that’s already successful.

I know Flores is a defensive coach, but I would think that Bieniemy would get a chance at HC before Flores gets tapped again.

Nah. Between the lawsuit and his tenure with the Dolphins looking worse and worse in retrospect after every game, I doubt he sniffs a head coach job for a few years. He’s a great defensive mind with a clear scheme and vision but he doesn’t have the temperament or personnel skills to be a head coach imo. Even outside of Tua, our gametime roster decisions under Flores were pretty consistently bad.

Being a good coordinator doesn’t mean you’re a good head coach.

I don’t think having a good defense means he deserves to he a head coach, last time he was a head coach there were plenty of red flags.
