It frustrates me to no end that the term “neoliberalism” is a set of “hyper-capitalist” economic policies embraced and advanced by “conservative and right-libertarian organizations, political parties, and think tanks.”
That’s not“liberalism”: “a political and moral philosophy based on the rights of the individual, liberty, consent of the governed, political equality, right to private property and equality before the law.”
Indeed, surely no true Liberal would be interested in maintaining the status quo for them and their wealthy friends.
You’re missing the point… Liberals and progressives aren’t the same thing. Trump started calling them that and the media glommed on.
Neolibs, which Donald Trump actually -is,- are the real threat to the rest of the world. They are the actual “Global Elite” that he goes on about.
Calling the left “Liberals” is just another case of accusing your enemies of doing the things that you’re doing.
It’s muddying the waters so it’s harder for the average voter to know what’s going on.

Here’s a good article on the difference, for those interested. The pic used as the header is on point.

Did you respond to the wrong person in the chain? If not, I think either I’m misreading your comment, or you’re agreeing with my point.
Maybe I misinterpreted yours… sorry about that!
