For example, I have an e-bike that I want to take for a long ride to see how many miles I can go before the battery dies. But since this e-bike has a throttle and is not actually exercise, I don’t want to log a cycling workout. I just want to know how far I traveled.
And if there’s nothing like that on the watch, what about the iPhone?

Just track it as a bike ride and delete it when done. If you are just testing the battery, start a bike workout and lay it down outside in the shade. It will use just as much battery sitting under a tree with the GPS running than it would on an e-bike. It’s not the “distance” that drains the battery, it’s the time spent with GPS active and polling of all the sensors.
