I’m looking to upgrade one of my devices soon and would like to hear from users firsthand experience to determine which upgrade would be more worthwhile. I’ve been eyeing the base model M3 MacBook Pro and the iPad Air / Pro (256 GB) w/ Magic Keyboard + 2nd Gen Apple Pencil. I’ve never owned an iPad so this would be new experience to me.
I currently have a base model 2013 MacBook Pro and a 2017 Surface Pro. I’m no longer a student so I don’t use intensive applications on either device and just do light browsing. Occasionally, I do edit videos on iMovie for giggles. The 2013 Macbook is still able to hold a full charge for 4 - 5 hours while the 2017 Surface Pro can only hold a full charge for 15 - 30 minutes.
Either choice would be significant upgrade base model 2013 MB Pro --> base model M3 MB Pro vs 2017 Surface Pro --> iPad Air / Pro (256 GB) + Magic Keyboard + Apple Pencil. I would love to hear reviews from users (regrets, things to look out for, major improvements, etc.)

Of all the “which configuration should I buy” posts that I’ve seen so far on Reddit, this one is the most extreme. I’m almost inclined to think it’s a joke.
That said, if you think the iPad Air (!) or Pro plus keyboard could be enough for your needs, then the M3 MacBook Pro will be utterly ridiculous overkill.
