So! Here’s the thing, I’m Brazilian. Most of the references about the US government and American celebrities go straight over my head and I find myself skipping bits of a lot of episodes that are mostly focused on those. I DO intend on watching the whole show from beginning to end at some point, I’m just really excited about the characters right now so I’m enjoying the ones where they’re just being stupid little things.
Episodes like The List, Guitar Queer-O, Clubhouses, Make Love, Not Warcraft and etc. Recommendations of ones focused on Wendy and the other kids are also appreciated!
The first 5 seasons or so are almost completely like that and those are my favorite, honestly. There is some nostalgia mixed in for me because I grew up with the show but you should absolutely try the early seasons for that type of vibe. There will be a decent amount of religious jabbing and social commentary but not relentless political commentary like modern seasons.
A lot of the old episodes have period-specific pop culture references that definitely won’t be as funny for you, unfortunately, but based on your description I would strongly recommend episodes like:
