Google wasn’t much help and I was curious. There’s a loud contingent calling for Arthur Smith’s job. If the Falcons win the south but lose handedly in the first round of the playoffs, could he still be fired in the off season?
Jim Harbaugh?
Tony Dungy fired after making the playoffs.
Plenty I’m sure. Nagy got fired at the end of 2021 after making the playoffs in 2020. Doug Pederson was fired in 2020 after making the playoffs in 2019.
Jim Caldwell made the playoffs with Detroit in 2016 and was fired at the end of the 2017 season when they missed the playoffs.
TBF, Matt Stafford was pulling wins out of his ass on that 2016 team.
LOL. Yes. Marty is the obvious answer.
Marty Schottenheimer, 14-2 and fired in 2006 due to differences with FO, they didn’t win a PO game though.
Mularkey for the Titans was fired after a 35-14 playoff loss to the Patriots in 2017 (they were 9-7)
Tony Dungy made a wild card in 2001, they lost in the first round, then got fired. Bucs won the super bowl in 2002 with Gruden.
Just happened to Kingsbury
Yes
I like how you thought Google would help answer this question
John Fox in Denver
In the NBA you can even get fired after taking your team to the finals lol
It just happened in 2020.
Bill O’Brien led the Texans to the AFCS title in 2019, and beat the Bills in the WC round of the playoffs that year before losing 51-31 to the Chiefs.
After the Texans started the 2020 season 0-4, O’Brien was fired. So not only was he fired the season after making the playoffs, but he was fired 5 games after winning a playoff game.
And obviously the whole Deandre Hopkins fiasco…
I was going to say Jimmy Johnson, but you didn’t ask if any coach has been fired after winning back to back super bowls.
