    @Acaleus

    The Omaha Zoo.

    If I had to pick more:
    * Cost of living + employment opportunities
    * General niceness of most people
    * Four seasons even if three get snow
    * Easy airport access (in eastern Nebraska)
    * Amazing natural spots of beauty that aren’t packed when you find them
    * Our unicameral + officially nonpartisan legislative system (even if it needs work + more Cavanaughs)
    * Our split electoral votes
    * Our cities punch above their population weight in amenities

    I have great internet (woo, Allo!) and cost of living is pretty cheap. I’m a simple gal with simple needs - internet, food, shelter, and not so many people that I want to pull my hair out all the time. Lincoln is a decent balance of enough people to have conveniences like good food and niche stores, without too much traffic and annoyance.

    This might be hyper-specific to my situation, but I grew up in rural Kansas in an idyllic, Leave It To Beaver-esque small town. Living in Omaha now, and we’ve managed to find a neighborhood that’s safe and peaceful and an OPS school with parents that are supportive and give a shit.

    I’ve lived in Kansas City and St. Louis, and there’s very few things that Omaha does better than either of those larger cities. But I really never thought that my kids would be lucky enough to be in this situation.

    It ain’t Iowa. Am I right?

    Jkjk, gotta be cost of living for me. I was out in Nashville for ~8 years and moved back to Omaha this past year and everything is so much more affordable. I didn’t realize how good I had it when I left haha.
