Anyone know if the Minnesota Care expansion got passed? Last I heard it was rolled into the healthcare omnibus, which passed, but I have no idea if the MNCare portion was kept or axed, and I’m not nearly fluent enough to parse the legalese of the bill myself. Would have thought it would have gotten at least some media coverage, as it was seen as a sort of “public option” light, which makes me worried it didn’t pass. MNSure sucks.
The public option piece is not funded yet, what passed was to do an
actuarial analysis which is due in 2024, in theory this should estimate the cost to the government to actually implement the public option. From how I understand it we will still need to pass a funding bill after this analysis is done, and even after that we won’t see a public option until 2027.
