You mean the Disney that conservative groups got mad at because two women had a split second “kiss” in a movie, or the Disney that made Song of the South?
Or the Disney that didn’t let the cops be gay in Gravity Falls, or the Disney that doesn’t let gays in Pixar films, or the Disney that relegated Finn to a minor character for being black
Didn’t watch Gravity Falls but as far as I knew they were confirmed gay, admittedly in the finale.
There was also a gay cop in Onward
I also don’t agree that Finn was a minor character, he was a regular focal point in two movies much to the annoyance of the same conservative groups.
I’m by no means suggesting Disney is anywhere in the neighborhood of acceptable. Gay characters have a tendency to be tiny roles or unpromoted movies (I watch a lot of movies and I hadn’t seen anything for Strange World before it released). I’m just saying “never” is probably inaccurate for modern Disney.
The problem is that in theory Finn is a main character with a complex arc and a love interest of all three of the other main characters. But in practice, his arc is never fully explored, and because Disney hates gays and interracial relationships, they decided to put Rey with the Klan incel, invent a straight love interest out of nowhere for Poe, and write Rose out of the story, giving Finn the black former slave a black former slave girlfriend as a consolation prize.
Disney would never have allowed Kirk to kiss Uhura.

Don’t forget the Disney that sent a Terminator after Owl House.
Such a good show but they got a gay relationship and AFAIK it was cancelled for having a plot which the exec thought wouldn’t work in a cartoon
First same sex kiss between two main characters in a Disney property. Then “the show doesn’t really fit our brand”
it was amidst COVID cuts, sure, but probably an easy win for some exec to axe.
Um, there was a gay couple in Lightyear. That’s a Pixar film.

This news article does not change the simple fact that there was a gay couple in Lightyear - a Pixar film.
