Maybe he starts to work on a Lemmy client instead… :)
Yes please! Apollo is a great app. I love the little kitty that plays around on it too.
Christian Selig, the developer of the app made Pixel Pals a seperate application and widget. ;)
That would be so sick. I’m legit sad about this. The Apollo app has been great and Christian has always been a standup dude and super transparent
I’m done. I don’t know where I’ll end up. Maybe here. Maybe just less social media in general. But Reddit is dead to me.
I have to admit I’ve been addicted to reddit since 2019 after infinty for reddit beta first appeared on r/androidapps. if infinty for reddit dies, then I also stop using reddit because I 95% access reddit on android
not sure that it will close, although that might be a short lived workaround, but i won’t be using it anymore anyways -
i refuse to pay for an amputated version of redditEDIT: i’m probably wrong about having to pay, per the 100 requests/minute free tier limit, but the amputated version of reddit comment still stands.
i just donated to the dev and made my peace with it. i might use old.reddit a bit longer after july 1 but that’s ithear the news infinity dev already test lemmy api so i have hope
RiF has also confirmed it’ll shut down on 30th June too
I said this in that thread, but that app is reddit to me.
I’m pleased to report that Lemmy works great on Fennec, so after RIF stops working, I’ll be here even more
why not use jerboa for lemmy?
I actually do have Jerboa! I got it from F-Droid, and I really like it.
I’ve been going back and forth between using Jerboa and using Fennec. The one thing I’ve found easier to do in browser is subscribe to new communities, while browsing content is much easier in Jerboa.
I also wish Jerboa would show notifications like Lemmy does in browser. But I really like the app overall!
Welp just figuring out lemmy because of Apollo shutting down. Here we go!
Man this sucks, I loved that this app provided a clean ad free experience. As someone said here, these 3rd party apps are basically what kept me into reddit these last few years. As the quality and community started to deteriorate, I think the reasons for me to stay there have ended.
Deeply depressing to see such a dedicated and passionate developer get beaten out of the game like this. I love Apollo and been a long time subscriber - I won’t be asking Apple for a refund on my subscription to the app, that’s for sure.
