I honestly do not mind it one but. I quite like the interface. It’s minimal but there are some bugs to it which is to be expected. I really do like the overall design of it though. There isn’t too much going on. It’s like old Reddit which I am a big fan of

Other than the random communist extremists, I like it, but I hope this place doesnt turn into the next Voat as I have a strong feeling it will.

How do I know if this instance is good? I just joined Lemmy.world because it was the first in the discovery page, but I’m not sure if this is an extremist server or not

I’m not sure either but it seems mostly fine other than the vocal minority. I assume if this instance gets a lot of people from reddit they will be squashed out but time will tell.

That doesnt prevent them people from making alt accounts. On reddit I had like 6, with the multiple instances here I imagine thats way more common.

They didn’t? I said that in my comment I had 6 accounts. With the federated instances its way more likely for people to have multiple accounts. I already have 2 and I have been here 2 days.

my point is these guys are extremists and all they care about is forcing their viewpoint and belifes on others and find joy in when it makes them mad, thats how these people work. So if this site is full of them then the site is shit.

I think that’s the thing you’re not getting. This isn’t a site. It’s a federation of independent networks, each with their own rules.

Have you seen any of that around? I haven’t.

And that’s irrelevant to my point, users can and will make accounts to view communities on instances that are blocked. Even if the extremists instances get blocked from the normal instances, they can and will make accounts on instances to view content that they otherwise can’t and in the procces will continue trying to spread their shitty beliefs on people. And yes I have, look at my profile, I have ran into Mutiple extremists on lemmy.world alone, I think you are the one that hasnt been using it much.

I’ve already banned about 20 users from my communities trying to spread that toxic shit.

That’s usually my fear with the fediverse. Whenever I step on mastodon.social, 2/3 of the front page is ultra left memes and talking point. I mostly want to talk tech and sport, not read about culture wars. It’s been hard to escape the crazy politics, and so far lemmy.world seems to have a lot of communities focused on other topics which is very welcome
