Hey there, Guardians. I wanted to make a quick post asking for community feedback on what content should live here. At the moment, while the Destiny community as a whole is growing here on Lemmy, most things are welcome here to drive engagement within the community. However, moving forward, we may need to change things.
My question is: should this community remain totally general purpose, allowing any and all Destiny content? Or should we fragment things as they were on Reddit, with subreddits such as r/fireteams, r/destinyfashion, r/destinylore, etc? I want to keep things fairly open and not be too controlling with the community.
If you have any thoughts on this, please leave them below, along with any other general feedback for the community. I just reworked the sidebar to include some resource and creator links, so suggestions on that and other things to add are more than welcome.
Edit: general consensus already is to keep things wide open, so we’ll keep going with that for now. Keep any other suggestions and feedback coming!
In my opinion, there’s no reason to start fragmenting the community until there’s enough of a community to fragment. Keep it general purpose until there’s enough activity that splitting is necessary.
I agree with the general consensus that it should stay General for now. This is a small community at the moment, so splitting it up further seems unnecessary.
Agree with @Stabbitha@lemmy.world that we keep it general purpose so we can grow. If we see a critical mass of posts that’s “clogging” up the front page then we can consider splitting off. I would also say a good thing to measure whether or not we need to split up is how much work you have to do as the mod.
