because a few days ago a helpful redditor told me everything I needed to know about joining Lemmy and the instances etc, and it is all gone.😡

A lot of people are nuking their reddit accounts. Doesn’t mean Reddit’s the one doing it.
I think this is the answer. A lot of people are using tools like shreddit to wipe their accounts clean.
Yup, 7 years worth of posts and comments replaced with a message as to why and a link to the disastrous AMA.
Just checked and my comments mentioning Lemmy and including links are still up.
Someone should just make a lemmy101.com or Fediverse how-to site that includes some of these really easy to digest diagrams and explanations
