Why did they not keep it? Looks nice
I don’t know. Maybe it looks too imperial? It’s basically in the same style as the Chinese Emporror’s seal.
It actually doesn’t bother me.
Soviet soldiers wear many medals, which actually looks very similar to aristocratic men. Look at any portrait of a prince in full dress costume and you will see so many medals. Ballet was developed in aristocratic courts and became an art enjoyed only by the aristocracy, yet the Soviet Union had Kirov and Bolshoi. If we wanted to destroy everything associated with oppressive regimes, then China should have demolished all traditional buildings and Soviet Union should have destroyed the Hermitage and Winter Palace, yet they kept it throughout 72 years. So that’s why it doesn’t bother me.It is probably because it uses traditional Chinese characters. I don’t know the history about it very well but I think I’ve seen early PRC books in our library and they used traditional so I’m deducing that simplified wasn’t fully codified and adopted until after the founding. I am not sure though.
