I was dumb enough to store a huge sack of birdseed in my shed over the long Canadian winter two years back. The mice had a fucking smorgasbord. That shed was absolutely trashed with seed, nesting debris, grass clippings, shit and piss by the time I opened her up in the spring. I had to gut everything out of it, rigorously clean it with PPE, and disinfect it multiple times over. I do like mice though, so I’m not all that upset that it happened.

Last year the squirrels found a way in mine, there were pine cones EVERYWHERE.

They were stuffed filling up the bottom of the lawn mower, the entirety of an upside down wheelbarrow, jammed in between the arms of my patio chairs… Everything was 100% stuffed with pine cones.

The worst part was I’d try to clean and they wouldn’t want to leave! They’d be running around the rafters so I had to retreat.

My father in law came over with a pressure washer and a 100’ foot hose and the sound scared them out, then we cleared the shed and washed it down twice. After that we put new boards over every gap and sealed everything up. But it still smells like pee.
