It’s weird that they don’t mention that medical marijuana is legal, and getting a card is as easy as making a phone call and giving them your credit card. There’s no reason anyone should be arrested for simple possession alone.

Admittedly, it’s not a state I’ve ever lived in. I just happen to also live in one of those states with awful cannabis legislation, so I remembered something about Pennsylvania not being on par with its neighboring states.

In practice it’s pretty decent. Not having homegrown is dumb, and medical being a front for recreational is dumb, bit it’s $75 and a literal 15 s call to get a card. At the state level homegrown has been a topic, it’ll take a few years but PA will get there.

Isn’t it literally still technically illegal for even medical users to smoke (rather than vape or eat) marijuana there? I think that’s what they mean by dumb laws.

Yes it’s a dumb law. It’s not really enforced unless you are a total dick. And if you are stuck in an apartment there are other less intrusive ways to smoke that won’t piss off neighbors (medical or not).

Nobody is busting down doors because they smell weed. It’s always a neighbor complaint. There are a lot of watchdogs And there isn’t going to ever be a respectful way to smoke a joint in a shared building.

It’s certainly not perfect, but it’s trending in the correct direction.

It’s not, we’re surrounded by states where recreational use is legal. Millions of dollars are heing spent just across the border, and the medical card program is a joke.

I was just surprised to learn people are still being arrested and prosecuted.

I’d bet it’s billions actually. One dispensary on the border of Washington and Idaho raked in $200,000 revenue in a single day.

I think those sorts of arrests and prosecutions are more than likely police attacking individuals when there’s nothing else to charge them for.
