A northern Utah school district has reversed its earlier committee-based decision that removed the Bible from elementary and junior high school but kept it in high school libraries.

It was never about protecting the children or about following the rules. It’s just about maintaining power and control over the population.

A lot of people think this is going to be a gotcha point for the Republican leadership. Trust me, that doesn’t bother them at all, this is perfectly in line with what they want to accomplish.

I’m an atheist but I have zero problem with a Bible being available in a school library… you know what turned me into an atheist was actually sitting down and reading the damn thing… I do hope they extend the same shelf space to other religious scripture and books on philosophy but sadly I doubt it.

Normally I would agree, but it’s easy for kids to misinterpret the Bible. Most of the books that are banned as just stories. Sure, you can learn something from them, but they’re not passed off as guides by which to live your life. When people take the Bible literally, it can lead to some nasty outcomes.

School libraries ought to have all the major religious works of the major religions. Religion has a lot of influence on the world. There are a lot of reasons someone might want to learn about it.

Having just a Bible is bullshit, and imo overt religious indoctrination.

My people are going to learn the principles of democracy, the dictates of truth and the teachings of science. Superstition must go.
