It’s Fortress Friday, Urists! Everyone upload an image of your current fortress, regardless of your current progress (or its state of cleanliness). Or just tell us a little about your fort!

I’m currently between forts right now. I’ve got this one, called Cobaltshowers, that I originally intended to be a succession fort, but I fell too in love with the dwarfs to turn it over. Each of the seven is named after a main character in the tv show Succession (which I have never seen), done for the purpose of trolling people who watch that show. I was hoping that if I gave dwarfs names at random, I would create a situation where some son marries his father and together they have a baby.

Instead what I ended up with is seven starting dwarfs who feel an intense need to fight, plus one lily-livered administrator.

I’m continuing work on Lashriddled. Progress rolls along slowly, but the keep and the hospital are done and now I’m working on a palace in preparation for the arrival of the monarch. It will have offices and quarters for all the nobles, a small library for records keeping, a dungeon, a barracks, and, of course, a lavish dining room, bedroom, and throne room for the King. Still in the digging out phase, but the forges are firing to get the metals ready and the engravers are practicing on a large patch of mined-out rock so that they be ready to do their best work once it’s time to lay a chisel to the palace walls.

It’s been a remarkably peaceful fort. While we have good defences, we’ve been at peace with the elves and the humans. The goblins were beat badly in a pre-fort war, and necromancy is nearly unheard of.

I’m currently in the end game of what is probably the last easy fort I will try to run for a while (good climate, no undead nearby, excellent mineral availability).

I currently have 210 residents, a queen who loves cages, and every dwarven bedroom has gem-encrusted metal furniture. Last night I finally found the metal-wot-shall-not-be-named and am looking forward to doing as much as I can with that before retiring the fort.

It’s been a great fort and it’s only 8 years old, but this is the second in a row that I’ve gotten to the endgame so I think the next will have to be near some undead or other challenges.
