I absolutely love The Expanse intro – I always let it play for the incredible song and started to notice all the changing visuals to match the progression in the show as a result.

DuckTales is one of those opening songs that I sing along with because I know the lyrics. The Expanse is one of those opening songs that I sing along with despite not knowing any of the lyrics at all.

The only lyrics I remember are his name in the chorus but it’s definitely stuck with me. Also he’s a space explorer! With that, Bucky O’Hare kind of bridges the gap between The Expanse and DuckTales in a way.

Cowboy Bebop was the first thing that came to mind, but now I’m wondering how many modern shows actually have banger intros that we all automatically skip.

From my childhood and adolescence: a lesser-known show called The Mysterious Cities of Gold, Fresh Prince, X-Files

Anime choices: Cowboy Bebop, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Hellsing

21st century: Sopranos, Game of Thrones (I almost didn’t want to, but the music never let us down)

I can still recite most of the Cities of Gold opening almost 40 years later. For whatever reason, I really fixated on the outfits of some of the characters and the show may have partially contributed to my interest in textiles and textile-adjacent things. l may or may not made myself a Zia paper doll so I could design many dresses for her (which all included quipu made out of embroidery floss…).

The song is kinda meh, but in the anime category I gotta give a shoutout to Konosuba S2 OP for being an entire perfect mini-episode in itself

Gotta be Futurama or Bojack Horseman. I’m truly a sucker for the intro sequences that change as a series go on.

Upvoted for Bojack Horseman. Intro constantly updates to reflect the storyline and the theme song slaps.

    I have a few:

    • Babylon 5 : The opening monologue and music score was amazing every time. Definitely an older vibe with this one with flashing images of the cast up as it progressed, but it was very good.
    • Westworld Season 1 : I think it was mainly the same for later seasons with slight variations. The simple piano tune building for the whole intro was beautiful and while watching back to back would absolutely let it run maybe every other episode, or every third.
    • Eureka Season 1 : The score by Mothersbaugh and quirky art is really fun and conveys the definite style of the show.

ditto but that’s not a big achievement … show went downhill pretty fast … only kept watching for the uber smexy Deborah Ann Woll as Jessica

    Catchiest: Adventure Time
Memorable: Game of Thrones (are /r/freefolk here yet?)
Favourite: Futurama - watched every single one for the different slogans and classic cartoon clips

This was what I was looking for, the intro to Peacemaker never fails to brighten my day! It’s easily the most James Gunn thing imaginable and it’s brought to life for all to enjoy. I added so many songs from that show’s soundtrack onto my workout playlist, all starting with the intro song.

It is so completely perfect that I’m really curious what they’re gonna do for the Season 2 intro with new incoming characters in place of the leaving minor characters since they brilliantly used even actors in small roles as part of the big dance.

    Tv series:
Memorable and really enjoyable: 24 (Jack “fucking” Bauer FTW) and Alias (the J.J. Abrams vehicle)
Favourite: Cowboy Bebop (the anime obviously)
    Beautiful score: The Expanse

I love the Alias theme, takes me back to the days of watching it one episode a week, some of those episodes were cliff hangers! I really need a rewatch now

ditto … shame only the “HD” version is on streaming platforms … I missed the boat on the rambaldi box set … I’d very much like to own the series in 1080p on BD. if it were ever to be released it would be a day 1 purchase for me

The theme from Sherlock along with Holmes’ little “the game is on” leimotif were pretty great.

Same with the driving beat from the Arrow title card — in fact I’m a big fan of Blake Newly in general, but it’s the track “Setting Up the Lair” from the first season that plays most of my favourite elements.

But the title sequence that stands out best for me is the 2010 version of the Doctor Who theme. The music from that season in particular has always hit me hard, but all of Murray Gold’s work on the show was phenomenal.
