Rif has been reddit for me for the past 10 ish years now, opened the app today to see error 429.

    Good to be here :)

Jerboa stopped working for me today for whatever reason so I switched to Connect and actually think I like it better so far.

Could be due to the version of the instance you’re on. Beehaw is on an older version and Jerboa crashes when you open it as Jerboa is on the latest version.

Yeah they really gotta make the app robust against old versions of Lemmy. No way all the instances are going to update as soon as the latest version is pushed.

The reason is 0.18 breaks a lot of features for example captcha. They all waiting for the fix.

I’m aware, but even so, admins have day jobs and whatnot. Perfectly coordinating every update across the entire Lemmy federation is just not something you should expect.

It’s my fave too but unfortunately has the opposite problem to Jerboa and currently servers that have upgraded to 0.18.1 don’t work! Hope they can get it sorted soon.

Edit: This is now fixed, hurrah!

Jeroba needs Lemmy version 0.18.0, some instances are still on 0.17.4. You can sign up with another instance that’s up to date and Jeroba should work.

Using wefwef for now, thanks for the recommendation will give it a gander.

I love how quickly the community is coming up with replacements for apps and the service as a whole that people are used to.

It’s a PWA(Progressive Web App) that functions through the browser and can be installed as an application that is just a wrapper around the browser.

All that to say it works on both Android and iOs, using it on Android myself.

Hope you’ve found the install button, it becomes more like a normal app once you can launch it directly from the app drawer instead of through the browser

Yeah I did. Tbh, I used reddit is fun, and the gesture system on wefwef is a little confusing.

I’m really fucking sad about rif :(

Yeah, same tbh. I think I still had some hope that the API changes would get reversed even as the announcements from RiF/Apollo kept trickling in. I just wanted to lurk on my favourite app forever :(
