It’s not even just the money.

Sure, but liberals are still left wing, and saying they’re not is just making enemies out of other left wingers, with is a long standing left tradition.
You’d all get so much further if you recognised allies in one area don’t have to be allies in all areas. You can all have your own opinions and work together where it suits you towards set goals, rather than name calling, “no true Scotsman”-ing and in fighting. It honestly feels like the right have infiltrated the left at times, and just turned them on each other.
I’m surprised it hadn’t happened sooner tbh.
The police said “we don’t believe this to be terrorism related”, which seems to be code for “the suspect is not white, and Tommy Robinson is on the way”. Or he would have been had he not fled the country so he didn’t get arrested for something else.
There’s a lot of hate for the illegal immigrants that have been shoved into run down hotels up and down the country, often in the poorest areas. I often check my local Facebook groups, and no matter what happens (ducks found dead, dog missing, theft, rape) the response is always “Probably one of the Novotel lot!” It wouldn’t have surprised me in the slightest if rioting kicked off here as well. I suspect the only reason it hasn’t is we’re just not a big enough town for any of them to organise it.
The incident sparking this wave isn’t even for that fire. It’s a British guy who snapped. But people don’t care. It’s just an excuse now for a show of force.
It could all have been avoided by hiring more people to process applications back when the numbers started ramping up, but here we are with hundreds of thousands of immigrants awaiting decisions with nowhere else to go.
Using neo-liberals to define liberals is like using national socialism to define socialism.
It’s authoritarian propaganda.
Maybe they could just paint all the targets black.
Having dealt with turning requirements into software for 25 years myself, I can say that it will never happen.
Primarily because most business people can’t even define the problems they’re trying to solve, let alone define a solution for it.
Half my job seems to be digging back up towards them to get at the real crux of any issue.
Even the BBC mentioned it in the first article I saw about this.
I’m still not surprised to see all the social media things, like JKKK Rowling sharing their usual slop.
I had to mess with an old laptop the other month, and the built in keyboard didn’t activate until after the deadline for getting into the BIOS.
But plug in a USB keyboard, and away it goes.
Like, who designs this shit?
I don’t think any consoles had decent anti piracy back then. Dreamcast had some, but got beaten. They were routinely being chipped for piracy up to the Xbox 360 era. I remember that well because people at work laughed at me for buying games, and then MS banned them all on one day and they had to buy new ones to be able to carry on playing online.
It was killed by the PS2. That thing was a juggernaut, and Sega just couldn’t compete. Xbox and Gamecube hadn’t even launched before Sega threw the towel in. They just couldn’t get any traction and got out of the console market before they went bankrupt, selling at ever more unsustainable losses.
They’re still around, so it was probably the right decision in hindsight.
Except the thread isn’t deleted there, just any posts debunking it.
I’m guessing those chips are a tiny fraction of Intel’s revenue.
AMD have been eating their lunch on more than just gaming PCs.
Yep, that’ll do it.
They’re not even bothered by the fucked up chips.
And the big empty bit in the middle to hide the loading.
Like, even teachers smoked. Not in lessons, but if they were out in the playground supervising, or in the staff room, they’d light up.
My headteacher had a pipe. I think it was about the only thing that kept him going, right up until the cancer got him.
I think the AI thing has really caught them off guard. There’s a gold rush and they have no real shovels to sell.
Intel’s only hope now is for the Chinese army to go for a holiday in Taiwan. Their competitors are hugely reliant on TSMC. That’s been brewing forever though, and hopefully will continue to not come to anything. The last thing the world needs right now is more fucking war…
Sadly I’m far more attached to ad blocking than I am to a browser.
I fear it’s wishful thinking that the layoffs are what made the stock tank. It’s certainly never hurt anyone else…
“The markets can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent”
If you had to condense it for a videogame, this would cover most bases.
You don’t get to gatekeep “left wing” behind your nonsense failed ideology.
