Everyone seems to forget that the largest mobilization of the US masses ever happened that year and at least some of it (if not most) was co-opted by the Democrats. Literally millions of people in the streets being told they needed to vote for Joe or they supported police brutality and he only won by a small albeit comfortable margin.
I have no idea what they think is gonna happen this year when the only people that are in the streets are fervently opposed to the current administration.
RCV/instant runoff doesn’t actually create opportunities for third parties either. Plenty of places use it and still have duopolies or single party rule. There’s also fptp systems that have multiple parties engaged in government.
It’s almost like political power doesn’t flow from votes.
Proof that any self styled “progressive” has nothing to lose by completely opposing Zionist fascism. The Zionists will stab you in the back even if you support them. We can advance confidently knowing anyone that tries to tow a middle position on the issue is an opportunist.
This is exactly what management does when they think you’re a pushover. The job is probably awful but they figure you’ll take it and roll over for them and then they’ll abuse you.
That is if they even give you the job in the first place. Sometimes they’ll dangle management roles in front of employees too if they think it’ll motivate you.
The mistake is operating within the nlrb framework. The UAW didn’t win in the 30s by asking the government to recognize them and if the 2000 or so people that voted for a union in that plant acted like they were a union rather than waiting for the bourgeoisie to pat them on the head and give their approval Mercedes would be at the bargaining table with them right now.
Maybe it’s more vulnerable but by the time that’s a problem the profit will already be somewhere else and then whoever gets the short end of the stick will get a taxpayer bailout as a consolation prize. They’re not doing economics, they’re gambling with other people’s money.
If the state is going to crack down on these actions with military force then these protests need to be organized and armed to match it if they want to sustain themselves. First and foremost that means ideological training and disciplined organization. Later that means weapons and tools to protect their comrades. This doesn’t necessarily mean immediately escalating to shootouts with the state but even something as small as maintaining a formation will protect a lot of people in a fight with cops.
The US is ruled by the logic of finance capital because it is ruled by finance capitalists. Buy low, sell high, and let someone else get stuck holding the bag. The actual concerns of production or running a society are irrelevant because long before production breaks down the current owners have dumped their stake for a comfy profit and bought some other industry.
Do you have a contract? If so that’s where the rules about when you can leave and the disciplinary process would be outlined. From there contact your steward and file a grievance (assuming that’s how your contract is set up).
If you don’t have a contract or you clearly violated it then you gotta get your coworkers to fight for you on the floor.
Depending on what union you’re a member of they might help you find work but that’s something to ask your steward or union rep.
While the reactionaries in the state undoubtedly relish in the timidity of the left and might contribute to it, the liberalism comes from a left that has never tried to seriously confront the forces of the bourgeoisie. Instead the they sit submerged in their own ideology of pacifism and reformism.
They can believe whatever they want if they never have to use it to change the world.
@Frank@hexbear.net in regards to the flight attendants striking Ianal but usually rank and file strikers only get fired which they’d otherwise be protected from in a “legal” strike though they maybe could face other punishment. Union leadership would be much more likely to face fines or imprisonment and the union as an organization would also likely be fined and could be held liable for the company’s lost revenue. It all kinda depends on the court that declares the strike illegal though
Actually not letting flight attendants strike is a good thing. He’s the most pro-labor president ever.
The translators of the English version of the text had approached Verso asking to publish it with them since Verso has published other works by Losurdo. The translators were rudely rebuked by Verso and I think this “joke” was a petty continuation of that.
The local group that has been coordinating events in my area has a website with a semi-functional calendar. If protests are being organized in your area see if you can find out who’s organizing them and look them up. They might have a website too…
Doesn’t the average US citizen not vote or vote for a minor party candidate in most presidential elections?
Cool so I can vote PSL?
And what’s up with unsalted nuts? Why’d they take the salt off?
That debate upset libs more than tens of thousands of dead Palestinians in Gaza
