I’ve enjoyed Diplomacy with many friends. We just make sure to talk about the chicanery we’re all about to take part in is separate from our real lives.

It’s a great game & reminds us that we can all be bastards if we choose. If anything, it makes me cherish the good that my friends choose instead within their real lives.

Southerner here. It’s this kind of carte blanche thinking that had left the liberals and progressives of the South fighting an uphill battle. When the major party most aligned with our values throws up their hands and withdraws all support, we are left only with our metropolitan counties trying to lead by example, however flawed we may be. I want to help my rural statesmen get the help they need so that they’re above water long enough to realize the true opponent, the 1% aka the new age plantation owners. But when we only have 2-3 counties per state trying to stem the tide while weathering the onerous rulings of a gerrymandered state legislator, it’s slow going. I almost left once, but that’s accepting defeat. I’m not leaving this country if we take a significant rightward turn, because I’ll lose any ability to right the ship. Same goes for the South.

Have you? In my city there are a wide range of sizes (flats/multi-room) in different areas (near different industry sectors) with different amenities (washer dryer hookups/pool/dog park/none) across different ages (new builds/recent/decades old).

What about differently sized apartments with different amenities? Sounds like this would force standardization and a race to the bottom on minimal amenities.

Funny joke, but it’s not really a trick when it’s part of an agreed to trial. There are most definitely unethical examples when a placebo was administered without it being an agreed to potentiality. However, I wouldn’t want to brand all placebos as tricks.
