  • Alright, I’ve seen Futurama, Simpsons, Clone High, Family Guy and Cowboy Bebop. I’ll suggest some shows and include where they legally reside [in the US]. (There are other ways but I’ll leave those to the communities about that.) I’m not sure our tastes are very similar and these are mostly known, I don’t tend to know obscure things, so you may have already tried them all; but-

    Pantheon - Sci-Fi - Prime Video - season 2 airing now

A lot of what you mentioned is comedy, whereas this one is serious but it is a sci-fi, like a few of the shows you like. I think it’s pretty solid but I’ll warn that it doesn’t feel binge-able because it’s a bit intense.

    Central Park - Musical Sit-Com - Apple TV+ - 3 seasons - neither renewed nor canceled

You didn’t mention Bob’s Burgers, but this is from the same creator/studio. You mentioned early Simpsons so maybe you’d like this, though that depends on your feeling towards musicals too.

    F is for Family - Sit-Com - Netflix - 5 seasons - Ended

Unlike Central Park, this one is more in line with Family Guy. It’s more raunchy than the other sit-coms on this list, but it’s also got a 70s setting that gives it a good feel and some uniqueness.

    Close Enough - Sit-Com - VOD purchase amazon/apple/vudu - 3 seasons - Canceled

From the creator of Regular Show. This one is shorter episodes and pretty much just comedy and a bit surreal.

    Bless the Harts - Sit-Com - Hulu - 2 seasons - Canceled

This is another more wholesome sit-com, it’s also a bit more southern. You didn’t mention King of the Hill; but if you liked any of that, you’d maybe like this. It’s mostly grounded and only occasionally a bit over the top. The first season is better than the second, in my opinion.

    Inside Job - Sci-Fi Sit-Com - Netflix - 2 parts - Canceled

I kind of mostly mention this one because I feel like it got more solid praise than a lot of recent adult animation. Seems like everything that comes out faces very mixed reviews but most people seemed to like this one.

Captain Fall - Dark Comedy - Netflix - 1 season - neither renewed nor canceled

This one I’ll admit is a complete shot in the dark and I’m probably way off base here- I never really got into the Venture Bros but when I see clips of that and the trailer for this they give me the same sort of uninterested feeling. I don’t think the plot-lines are really all that similar but they both feel, idk action-y. It’s similar to how I feel about Archer too- I don’t tend to get into action/spy/adventure like things much.

Anyway, if you are ever looking for suggestions you can def make a post anytime, other people probably know shows I don’t. Or maybe some show that isn’t out yet will be more your speed in the future. It seems like adult animation might be on the rise, so maybe, never know.

  • A bit on the legal side- Before securities, like stocks, bonds, and notes, can be offered for sale to the public, they first must be registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Any stock that does not have an effective registration statement on file with the SEC is considered “unregistered.”

In both enforcement actions, the SEC determined that the NFTs were securities under the Howey Test. The Howey Test determines what qualifies as an “investment contract,” subjecting the asset to U.S. securities laws. An investment contract exists if there is an "investment of money in a common enterprise with a reasonable expectation of profits to be derived from the efforts of others. Basically, This isn’t the first time the SEC has charged someone for selling NFTs without registering them.

In this case- The NFTs themselves, as I understand it, were pictures of cats that if purchased granted access to view the animated show. They were advertised as something that would increase in value that could be resold.

So the company is being fined for selling them to the public without registering them. Several celebs and industry pros were involved in making the show, but it’s unclear how involved any of them were in the NFT of it all. (Probably not much.)

  • Dan Stevens is voicing Korvo. Criminal charges against Justin Roiland were dropped for insufficient evidence; but there seems to be non-criminal complaints against him by multiple people that more directly relate to the work place as well. A criminal investigation was probably just the last straw. I personally don’t care for Rick and Morty or Solar Opposites, so I didn’t know much about it and had to look it up; but I doubt he’s wanted back if he was causing problems in the work place.

  • Great question about the NSFW tagging. I personally would have said no- But knew I had to look up what the instance-wide rules for lemmy.world were for tagging posts NSFW- And I’m still going with no, you don’t have to.

What I found that would potentially apply to this community said this: “Do not post any type of nudity without a Content Warning.”

There was no mention of having to tag profanity or vulgarity, only controversial subjects (which seems kind of subjective) and nudity (that one’s crystal clear). So for now, I’m going to say anything from YouTube wouldn’t need to be tagged as YouTube already doesn’t allow nudity, so any suggestion of such would already be censored.

I’m going to edit the about section to include a rule about NSFW tagging nudity.

  • Thanks for the comment! Dragon Prince is going to have more episodes; however, I think I’ll be leaving it off the master list for now as it is rated TV-Y7. It definitely has broad appeal but it’s still a more family-friendly show. I only watched the first season myself, but I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoyed shows such as Avatar the Last Airbender or She-Ra.

Despite starting this group with adult animation in mind, it could be broadened into a more general animation fan club, if that’s something people would like to see. I certainly enjoy family and kid animation as well as the adult stuff. I’m a childless adult; yet I’ve watched every Bluey episode (that’s available in the US).

When I get some time, I may make some posts asking for feedback on what people would like to see from this community. When I first searched up animation on lemmy to see what was out there it looked like there was already an animation community, so I made this one a little more niche. We’ve surpassed the other group in subscribers though so I’m definitely interested to know what everyone wants to see.

Sorry for the rambling- Just wanted to provide some context to you and anyone else who may read this comment.
